Markham Roberts

New York City based interior designer Markham Roberts established his own design firm in 1997, following a six year position working for legendary interior designer Mark Hampton. The November 2010 issue of Town & Country Magazine features Roberts' work of college friend (graduates of Brown) Cosima Von Bulow Pavoncelli's home on Sagaponack, Long Island. The home's interiors are lovely - a polished ease - exemplifying Roberts' strength of layering pattern, texture, and accessories, along with the element of livability.

A couple of design themes that I've noticed from Roberts' style influence in Cosima's home as well as in his other published interior spaces include Asian details in the form of lantern light fixtures and ceramics; Pattern expertly (while also seeming effortless) mixed on walls, carpet, and upholstery; An affinity for certain style lamps; Dreamy and serene color palate of blue & white for bedrooms;  Furniture placement symmetry - sofa flanked by 2 chairs with a square coffee table in the center; And the unexpected addition of mounted Antlers as a room accessory. Check out some examples below....

Furniture Placement - Roberts' placement of case pieces with accessories gets a gold star....  Note the square coffee table, ceramic accessories, lantern accessories on the coffee table, and effortless blend of pattern....
