 Interior of No. 246

I was super excited to try No. 246, the newly opened (not even a week old) Italian inspired restaurant located in the heart of the Decatur Square (you can read my previous post about it here). We went for lunch yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed every course! I was happy to see co-owners & chefs Drew Belline & Ford Fry making their presence known in the kitchen and at the front of the house. Our dear friend interior designer Smith Hanes was given the task to transform the space. His signature touches of a muted color palette layered with rustic elements (zinc finishes, vintage lighting, period wood accents), perfectly suited the 2 room restaurant, achieving a fresh take on bistro interior style.

We sat against the far wall, this photo looks out onto the Bar/Entrance area.

The Bar -- remains open & serving drinks during the 3-5pm time frame when the kitchen closes lunch service to prepare for dinner. Our server told us that probably some sort of smaller Bar Menu will be offered to patrons at the bar during that 2 hour transition time.

"Toasts" Course --  we sampled 3 selections....  Cannellini Beans with Braised Cavolo Nero; 246 Meatball; House Made Ricotta with Ken's Preserved Local Chantrelles; all served with chunks of deliciously toasted bread. Jim ordered a slice of the Bailey Hazen Blue from the Cheese Course.

Jim ordered the No. 246 Burger with Cheddar Cheese & a side of Garlicky Fries.  Very, very tasty!

Wanting to try a Pizza baked in their imported wood burning oven, I ordered the Margherita Pizza and a side of Rapini.  Fantastic! And the perfect size to share -- I brought home savory slices to enjoy for dinner.

Dessert -- We split the Chocolate Tart with Sea Salt & Olive Oil....  Insanely rich with the perfect combo of Salt & Sweet. Shared alongside a Batdorf & Bronson Cappuccino.
