Picasso’s 1932 painting “Nu au Plateau de Sculpteur (Nude, Green Leaves and Bust).”

Christie's auction house set a record on Tuesday evening with the sale to an unidentified bidder of Picasso's "Nu au Plateau de Sculpteur (Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust)." The painting depicts Picasso's mistress, Marie-Therese Walter, reclining nude.  This Picasso painting and other important works of art included in the Christie's sale, were part of the Frances Lasker Brody estate.  The Los Angeles philanthropist, who died in November, along with her husband, the late Sidney F. Brody, who died in 1983, proudly displayed their extensive art collection in their Holmby Hills home.  In 1949, the Brody's commissioned architect A. Quincy Jones to design the 11,500 square foot residence.  Currently, the Brody's home is on the market for $24.95 million.  For more info, check out these links to the LA Times and the Wall Street Journal.
