Lot 1195 / Large Poster for Everyone Comes to Elaine's

Items from the famed NYC restaurant Elaine's are included in the upcoming estate sale of owner Elaine Kaufman. Following Kaufman's death in December 2010, this legendary Upper East Side establishment closed its doors in May 2011 after 48 years of business. Elaine's will always be cherished as the "it spot" for the mix & mingle of politicians, celebrities, writers, artists, and New York society. Doyle auction house will be holding the sale Tuesday, September 20 at 2pm, with a preview offered September 17-19. Included below are a couple of lots from the sale, followed by a video of Billy Joel's Big Shot -- he references Elaine's in his lyrics -- "They were all impressed with your Halston dress and the people that you knew at Elaine's".
