While in CT ~ Visit to Artisan + Pinkberry

Monday, September 12, 2011

Last Thursday night we enjoyed a fabulous evening at the recently opened Artisan restaurant in Southport, CT. Located within the charming Delamar Hotel, Artisan has created a dining environment to accommodate both a formal setting and casual atmosphere. Prior to dinner, we sat for drinks in the exterior courtyard space, which houses an outdoor bar area, plenty of comfortable seating, all surrounded by fresh herbs & flowers brimming over their garden containers. You enter Artisan through the Tavern side of the restaurant -- a quaint space featuring bar seating, interior fireplace, and casual dining. Beyond the Tavern is the more formal Dining Room. There are separate menus offered for each area, but you can order off of either menu if desired. We dined in the Tavern and opted for dishes from both menus and started with the Roasted Tomato Soup (with super tasty baby grilled cheese & bacon wedges), the Fried Pickles with Herb Dressing, CT Oysters & Cape Cod Clams. Dinner choices included the Chicken Breast with Roasted Shallot, Atlantic Salmon with Mustard Dressing, the Crispy Duck Breast, and the Local Striped Bass. Dessert followed with a delectable Vanilla Cheesecake, a very rich & served warm Chocolate Ganache Cake, and a sampling of Cheeses. Artisan is open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, with Brunch served on Sundays.

All a glow at the end of the night....

Pinkberry has been opened in Fairfield for a while now, but I had not had the chance to try it until we stopped in last Friday. I selected the Peanut Butter swirled with Chocolate and mixed nuts added as my topping. Mom enjoyed the Peanut Butter alone, with the mixed nuts added too. I think we both were surprised at how much we enjoyed our choices....  the frozen yogurt was creamy and the chocolate & peanut  butter were rich in flavor. The space is located in a tiny storefront right in the heart of town, making it the perfect spot to run in and savor a delicious and almost guilt free treat!
