Thoughtful Restoration

Sunday, August 21, 2016

I've mentioned in numerous previous posts about the importance of promoting preservation of original architecture -- including both residential and commercial properties. This personal belief not only pertains to historic structures, but extends to period examples that define charming older neighborhoods.

I've kept my eye on a Candler Park bungalow (I took the "after" image driving by last week) that is currently undergoing in my opinion, a thoughtful restoration. The location couldn't be more ideal.....  Across the street from The Flying Biscuit, with additional neighborhood eateries and shops beyond. When the home sold nearly two years ago, it was in desperate need of repair. Thankfully, the owners made the wise decision to retain the original footprint, and focused on redesigning the home to meet today's modern living needs. Note the roof line has been reworked to accommodate a second floor and the original screen porch is now an open porch, perfect to greet and entertain guests.
