ON THE MARKET >>> A Storybook Home

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs (pictured below), founders of the artisan crafted tabletop & accessories company that bears their name, have listed their magical storybook home on the market. Priced at $975,000, the sprawling 42 acre estate is located in the idyllic Fingers Lakes area of New York and features 7 bedrooms, 6 baths, a separate carriage and guest house, and lush & flowering lakeside grounds.

This avant garde couple are no longer associated with the MacKenzie-Childs company, but have created a new venture Victoria and Richard Emprise....  full of their custom designs and artistic spirit.

Caroline Willis

I've included the interiors of Atlanta based residential interior designer Caroline Willis' cottage home. Caroline is known for a design style focused on a soothing color palette, thoughtfully chosen furniture placement, and carefully edited accessories. She credits these honed skills to her previous employers, noted designers -- NYC based Mariette Himes Gomez and Atlanta based Dan Carithers.

GO & TRY >>> The Bakery at Cakes & Ale

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Chef David Sweeney, owner of the dearly loved vegetarian restaurant Dynamic Dish, whose doors closed at the end of 2010, has been serving up his signature dishes at the best kept secret in town. You can find Chef Sweeney at The Bakery at Cakes & Ale in Decatur, and enjoy his savory soups, fresh veggie plates, and hearty sandwiches. I call The Bakery the best kept secret, because you can easily walk in & sit down for lunch on a Saturday and not wait in any sort of a line for a table....  this seems practically unheard of at any decent cafe in Atlanta on a weekend!

The Bakery is open MON 8:30am-3:00pm / TUE-THUR 7:30am-9:00pm / FRI-SAT 7:30am-11:00pm / Serving Brunch on SUN 11:00am-3:00pm. In addition to lunch, The Bakery offers light breakfast fare in the morning, desserts in the evening, and coffee, cappuccino, and freshly baked pastries throughout the day.

We went for lunch this past Saturday....  the staff couldn't be nicer, my cappuccino & croissant absolutely delicious, and our lunch, well....  take a look at what we enjoyed and you'll get picture! I ordered the mix plate of sides, with Quinoa, Pesto Green Beans, a Variety of Tomatoes, & Cole Slaw (above) and Mr. Ferguson ordered the Roast Beef on Crunchy Grilled Bread, with a side of Slaw (below)
