New Restaurant Watch > Sprig in Decatur

Monday, July 12, 2010

Love hearing about the opening of new restaurants whose aim is to serve in season, local farmed ingredients....  Just heard about Sprig coming to the Vista Grove shopping center off of LaVista Road.  Renovations are under way from a former BBQ joint, with an expected September opening date.  Sprig's Facebook page mentions their desire to start up a farmer's market on site as well.  Here are the details from tonetoatlanta:

"Adding to the Decatur restaurant mix, Sprig Restaurant will open this September in Vista Grove shopping center on LaVista Road. Opening on the far left side of the shopping center in the now defunct Quinnie's BBQ, Sprig is being opened by Daniel Morrison, former dining room manager and bartender at the James Beard award winning Watershed Restaurant in downtown Decatur. Construction began this past week but the place is being completely gutted- hence the September opening may be optimistic-I'm inclined to think it may be October. No menu is available, but I'm told that the fare will be higher end than that ofupcoming neighboring eatery Napoleon's. Sprig does already have a website and Facebook page, so check them out. For now, do as they say ... "Eat Fresh, Eat Local."

Sprig's Sample Dishes Included Below:

Pan Seared Day-Boat Grouper with a Blackberry, Fried Garlic, Cucumber, and Basil Oil Dressing.

Shrimp Sandwich on Homemade Brioche with Arugula, Cherry Tomatoes, Shaved Parmesan, and a Spicy Saffron Mayo.

Cold Quail and Basmati Rice Salad with Roasted Beets, Fresh Herbs and Sweet Corn.
