Bill Murray in Scrooged

A third post of my Holiday movie recommendations.....  I mentioned previously about A Very Murray Christmas (currently available through Netflix), well, back in 1988, Bill Murray starred in a modern day take on the classic Charles Dickens tale, A Christmas Carol, titled Scrooged. Now, I'm dating myself, but I saw this movie in the theater when I was in the 7th grade.

Below, some additional favorite films that are on my watch list.....  And complete throw backs to my childhood.....

A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) -- which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year! / Scrooged (1988) / Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964) / Frosty the Snowman (1969) -- for a number of years, we had a family tradition of celebrating Christmas Eve at the house of dear friends in Larchmont, NY, and I always have a memory of this film being on their TV every year / A Christmas Story (1983) -- I believe that TBS still runs this for 24 hours, starting at midnight on Christmas Eve / Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town (1970)

The Vince Guaraldi Trio is responsible for the seemingly timeless soundtrack of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Random, but director Wes Anderson selected from the album Christmas Time Is Here for a scene in his film, The Royal Tenenbaums -- the song can be heard in the background when Margot Tenenbaum (Gwyneth Paltrow) & Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman) have an exchange (image below) and she orders a butterscotch sundae.

*If in the Atlanta area, T.T. Mahony and Jeffrey Bützer will be performing A Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack live, Friday & Saturday nights, 12/18 + 12/19, at the Earl in East Atlanta -- more info here.
