On The Market

Yes, this recently listed home is in need of a special owner......  Who understands the significant tie to Atlanta's design community and values the importance of its overall restoration & revival. From original drawings to completed interiors, Atlanta's top talents of the day have had a hand in its storied history.....  Architecture by Henry Toombs, built by Cecil Malone and interior design by owner Sol Kent.

Sol Kent, who passed away in 2001, was the legendary fashion director of Atlanta's famed Rich's department store. A half a century ago, due to Mr. Kent's discerning eye, Rich's was lauded as the South's preeminent shopping destination for seeking out coveted fashions from the era's most revered designers, Oscar de la Renta, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and Halston to name a few.

When I came across the home's listing online, the interior photos stopped me in my tracks! The attention to detail is undeniable and the selection of furnishings & accessories were absolutely selected by a connoisseur of refined taste. With a little research I uncovered that Mr. Kent and his wife Irene were the home's owners and further digging brought me to a July 2008 blog post written by The Peak of Chic. Blogger Jennifer Boles shared original images from when the Kent's interiors had been previously featured in the Fall 1994 issue of Veranda magazine and highlighted Mr. Kent's passion for crafting very geometric needlepoint designs. Comparing the 1994 photos to today's listing images, what is A-Mazing to me, is that every piece of decor remains in its place. Take a look at the photos below and online here and also pick up on Mr. Kent's needlepoint designs scattered throughout every room!

*Top large photo from current listing compared to 4 smaller images from Veranda's Fall 1994 issue / Pillows on each sofa are positioned nearly identical!
