Our Visit to Pie Shop
While we were hitting a couple of estate sales in Buckhead on Saturday morning, I said to Jim we should stop in for a visit to Pie Shop. I had heard about this quaint bakery offering perfect seasonal sweet and savory pies, but hadn't had a chance to try. The menu changes daily and the fresh baked made from scratch items on Saturday's menu didn't disappoint.... in the spirit of Halloween, sweet pies included Candy Corn Cream Pie, Death By Chocolate, and Graveyard Plots. Savory pies included Witches' Beef Stew, Mummy's Savory Tart, and Jack O'Lantern Pumpkin Pie. Pies are sold whole or by the slice and you can sit at the butcher block topped tables to eat-in or you can get your pie packaged up to takeout. We picked up a slice to take home of the Candy Corn Cream Pie & Haystack Peanut Butter Pie -- both were super delicious with a true homestyle flavor. Pie Shop is open Tuesday - Saturday, offering "Late Night Pie" until 1am on Friday & Saturday. Currently, Pie Shop is taking orders for Thanksgiving pies -- Bourbon Pecan, Chocolate Chip Pecan, Classic Apple Pie, Ganache Pie, Fresh-Roasted Pumpkin Pie, and Old-fashioned Lemon Chess Pie.

HALLOWEEN Double Feature
Two of my very favorite films to watch at Halloween coincidentally both star Tim Curry. First up, the 1986 movie The Worst Witch, based on the books written by Jill Murphy. Additional cast members include noted actors Diana Rigg and Charlotte Rae, and a very young Fairuza Balk. It's the greatest tale of a young witch trying to get through her studies of spells and potions at her witch academy.
Followed by the Rocky Horror Picture Show, released in 1975. Clearly the more saucier of the two in story line, but perfect for an older crowd in both audience participation and Halloween dress up fun! Stars include Susan Sarandon as Janet, Barry Bostwick as Brad, and Meatloaf as Eddie. A flat tire has forced Brad & Janet to abandon their car and venture out into a stormy night in search of a phone to call for help. They stumble upon a dark and old mansion with a party of sorts unfolding and they are asked to stay as house guests. Watch below for more....

Keith Johnson | Photographed at his NYC apartment
Keith Johnson seemingly has one of the greatest jobs.... he travels the world in search of interesting artisan made wares, textiles, and crafts, and brings them back stateside to fill the shelves of the home furnishings & clothing store, Anthropologie. Cameras have tagged along in his adventures for a TV show fittingly titled Man Shops Globe, premiering back in 2009 on the Sundance Channel. Yesterday, Keith spent an hour long online chat session answering questions from fans of both the show and Anthropologie. He discussed an assortment of topics including where he finds inspiration for what he buys, are more Man Shops Globe episodes in the works, and the always asked -- Do you need an assistant? Click here to read the full live chat and click here to read my previous post on Man Shops Globe.
Keith and partner Glen Senk's Upper East Side apartment was featured in the October 2009 issue of Elle Decor magazine. The interiors are rich in worldly finds -- fabrics, rugs, and collected accessories layered throughout the home. Check out the photos below.
